Issue/Introduction

Question:

There are numerous references to PAM that is utilized with the LINUX profile data records in the ACF2 documentation. Is this installed with the base ACF2 installation or is it a separate install?

Answer:

CA PAM Client for Linux for zSeries is not installed with the base CA ACF2 installation.

The CA PAM Client for Linux for zSeries product is a no charge, optional component, of CA ACF2 for z/OS and CA ACF2 for z/VM - VM FOR LINUX.

It is used to configure zLinux guests to authenticate user ids and passwords to CA ACF2. Since it is an optional component, it is not installed when you install base CA ACF2.

The CA PAM Client product has both zLinux and z/OS or z/VM components that need to be installed and configured in order to authenticate users to CA ACF2.

The CA PAM Client for Linux for zSeries product is distributed in ESD only form as part of  the CA ACF2 - MVS or CA ACF2 for z/VM - VM FOR LINUX products and can be downloaded from the Support.ca.com website.

Installation instructions can be found in the Product Guide included in the download.
