Issue/Introduction

Using IQL and running Program (NSIGHTRW) in CA SYSVIEW DB2 r20.0 to filter DB2 SMF data and load it to the CA SYSVIEW DB2 Tables.

Does the IDB2(SYSVIEW FOR DB2) Monitor Data Collector (and/or) PTXMAN need to be running to extract the DB2 SMF data and load it to the IDB2(SYSVIEW FOR DB2) Tables?

Environment

Release : 20.0

Resolution

The Datacollector needs to be up. According to the documentation in HGHLVL.SOURCE(IDB2ARC):

FUNCTION: PROCEDURE USED TO UNLOAD THE ONLINE HISTORY DATASETS TO A SEQUENTIAL DATASET IN SMF FORMAT, CREATE OUTFILES USING CA-INSIGHT UNLOAD UTILITY, AND LOAD DATA TO DB2 ARCHIVE TABLES USING DB2 LOAD UTILITY.  THE PROCEDURE
IS SUBMITTED AS A STARTED TASK BY THE DATA COLLECTOR ON A TIMED BASIS OR WHEN A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OF THE FILE FILLS UP.

With the DC up, the Xmanager needs to be up also.
