Issue/Introduction

Secured communication in sending logs to a remote syslog server.

Environment

10.8.0, 10.8.1, 10.9.0

Resolution

Port 514 is commonly designated for the syslog protocol, which collects log messages from various network devices, servers, and applications.

To safeguard systems and networks utilizing port 514, security measures such as deploying firewalls to restrict unauthorized incoming connections, implementing robust password protocols, and granting minimal necessary privileges to programs and users are essential. These fundamental security practices are instrumental in thwarting unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.

Presently, SMG lacks an enhanced secure method for transmitting logs to a remote syslog server.
