Issue/Introduction

In ESP, we used to place applications on hold and then will release or force complete it. While doing force complete, it has to be Complete and Release in order to remove from director when ESP is recycled. Sometimes our team does only force complete alone. Around 38000+ such jobs on application hold is still retained in ESP active director.

If we are going to clear these jobs from director by doing release, what would be the results

Environment

Release : 12.0

Cause

Applications on hold can be forced completed. While doing force complete, it has to be Complete and Release in order to remove from director when ESP is recycled. Sometimes our team does only force complete alone and the applications/jobs are still on hold and will not clear from director. This can lead to problems with CSF/Director and possible s878 abends.

Resolution

After performing the release the slots will be available for reuse. They will not be reclaimed until you run the CYBESUT1 utility. Also you will want to issue the two commands to remove them from CSF/DIRECTOR
