Issue/Introduction

Running the /opt/Symantec/sdcssagent/AMD/tools/sav command returns the "scan engine not initialized" error message.

Environment

SEP Linux Agent

Cause

The 'scan engine not initialized' error is usually caused by a lack of definition updates. 

 

Resolution

  1. Verify you are able to connect to https://liveupdate.symantec.com or your LUA server
  2. Restart the sisamdagent service (an attempt to run LiveUpdate is made on service start)
    systemctl restart sisamdagent
  3. Review the /opt/Symantec/sdcssagent/AMD/sef/Logs/lux.log for further troubleshooting
