Issue/Introduction

Edits made to the /etc/resolv.conf as mentioned in the product documentation are lost after the vApp is rebooted

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/identity-security/identity-suite/14-4/virtual-appliance/administering-virtual-appliance.html#concept.dita_484b93c7f06198e8b27adcc2537229358eb17777_ChangingDNSConfiguration

Environment

IM 14.4 vApp running CentOS 8

Cause

The resolv.conf file change were not being retained due to a change in NetworkManager service in Centos 8. NetworkManager validates each entry in resolv.conf file configrured with dhcp so it rewrites the file every time Network service is restarted.

Resolution

Engineering has created a fix HF_VA-v2-20230505141509-DE565378.tgz.gpg

This patch will enable a new alias "nmctl-rcmgr" and you can run the new alias "nmctl-rcmgr enable" to retain changes made to the resolv.conf file.  And if you want to revert back to the original behavior you can run the alias again and disable rc-manager using the same alias "nmctl-rcmgr disable"
