SEP and Other Hardware Inventory Appears to be Missing from a Server

Issue/Introduction

Inventory is not collecting SEP and other hardware inventory on a server. We updated SEP and Altiris but it does not reflect in reporting.

Cause

WMI is not configured on the servers where inventory is missing.

We tested various approaches to testing WMI functionality and the ability to collect inventory data.

Ran WMIMgmt.msc on the server, right-clicked WMI Control (Local) > Properties and found error messages related to the attempt to connect to WMI spaces:

Resolution

The server management team was engaged to investigate why this server was configured in such a way that WMI was not functional.
