As of SNMPCollector 4.13, DCD 4.2 is automatically deployed with all SNMPCollector versions.
No further action is needed, unless a new updated version of DCD is published and you would like to update the certifications.
To do this, the latest DCD package needs to be downloaded to your UIM archive and deployed into your environment.
Please note the Prerequisites listed in the documentation. Ensure the following before you update the DCD:
The Device_Certification_Deployer package updates files in <Nimsoft>/probes/network/snmpcollector. The package makes the following changes:
- Updates the contents of the VendorCertifications, MetricFamily, and VendorPriorities directories
- Updates the metric map files in the Publish directory
- Creates the DeviceSupport directory containing vendor-specific information
Use this procedure to update the snmpcollector vendor certifications:
- Load the Device_Certification_Deployer, mps_language_packs, ci_defn_packs, and wasp_language packages into your local archive. For more information about how to download and deploy packages using Admin Console, see the CA UIM wiki.
- Deploy the latest version of these packages from your archive.
- Deploy Device_Certification_Deployer onto each robot where snmpcollector probe is deployed.
- Deploy mps_language_pack
- CA UIM 8.5 or later
- Deploy mps_language_pack to the primary hub.
- CA UIM 8.4
- Deploy mps_language_pack to where service_host is installed.
- Deploy ci_defn_packs where nis_server is running.
- Deploy wasp_language packs on the OC server where wasp is running.
- Verify that the packages have installed successfully. In Admin Console, select Installed Packages. In Infrastructure Manager, the Installed Packages can be found in the controller probe config GUI.
- Restart the snmpcollector, nis_server, mpse, and wasp probes.
Note: Restart the wasp probe that is on the OC server.
- Select the snmpcollector instance in Admin Console and then go to the probe configuration GUI.
- Open the Template Editor to update your existing metric family files with new vendor certifications, or to update your existing templates with new metric families and metrics.
- For the probe to apply a template, even one that you have previously deployed, you must edit the template. Edit and then save the template.
Open each template that you have deployed.
New or changed metric families and metrics from the Device_Certification_Deployment package appear in the template. These new or changed metrics are inactive by default.
- If you want to keep the template configuration that you have now, clear the Active box. Then check it again.
- If you want to change the template configuration, make the desired change.
- Click Save.
- Select Discovery Filters > Options (icon) > Query Discovery Server.
