Customer received and applied SO15476 and all associated prerequisites. Looking for clarification on how to active this feature.
Must it be set in the initialization parms 'LANGUAGE=RW' or can it be set in the Define User panel or both?
Also noticed prereq SO14543 impacts Deliver and View. Does deliver have to be running this maintenance (PTF) in order for this function to work in View?
Release : 14.0
Q1: I received and applied SO15476 and all associated prereq's. I need clarification on how to active this feature. Must it be set in the initialization parms 'LANGUAGE=RW' or can it be set in the Define User panel or both?
Answer 1) To exploit the new View wide screen functionality in View:
a. Apply the PTFs that provide the new feature (SO15476 (And prereq SO14543) which you have done).
b. Version the View database files up to 14.0.
c. Run SARDBASE OLOAD to load the panels that support wide screen formats to the View database.
d. You can specify the panel preferences globally (SARINIT LANGUAGE=), or on a user-by-user basis (Userid Definition Panel). For additional details, click on the following documentation link:

Q2: Also noticed prereq SO14543 impacts Deliver and View. Does deliver have to be running this maintenance (PTF) in order for this function to work in View?
Answer 2) - PTF SO14543 is actually a PTF for the EBC Common Database Driver (i.e. The XMS task). While it's true that EBC/XMS may be used by both View and Deliver, you DO NOT have to apply the Deliver Wide Screen Support PTF (PTF SO15584) in order to exploit wide screen functionality in View.
I'll add that if you did want to exploit wide screen functionality in DELIVER, you would need to:
a. Apply the PTF SO15584.
b. Version the Deliver database files up to 14.0.
c. Run RMODBASE OLOAD to load the panels that support wide screen formats to the Deliver database.
d. The display format depends on the specification of the LANGUAGE initialization parameter. You can also use the online LANGUAGE command to change the display format during an online session.
