Issue/Introduction

The customer after the upgrade from 14.3  CP2 to 14.4 is unable to login to Management Console due to the error: Login failure: Username and password do not match.

The customer was not sure when the same credentials worked before the update.

Environment

Release : 14.3, 14.4

Resolution

We found that the User store directory is used for Management console authentication. There was no user admin in it so we had to disable authentication as described in the article

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/identity-security/identity-manager/14-4/configuring/security.html

1. Login to the Management console without authentication, Open Directories, and click the directory that contains users that require access to the Management Console. (Home › Directories › AuthenticationDirectory)
2. Click Update Authentication.
3. Select the Used for Authentication option.
4. Enter the login name for the first user and click Add.
5. Continue adding users that require access to the Management Console until all users have been added. Then, click Save.

The users that you specified can now use their user name and password to access the Management Console.
Then:
Enable Native Security for the Management Console (Cycle environment and clear tmp/data) and log in using the new users.
