SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

After maintenance was applied to V20.0.06 for Sysview for DB2 DBG55092E Data Collector not active message was seen when trying to access a subsystem.

Also noticed that on the main menu , 20.0.06  Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS but when in the IS for Sysview menu item.. it displays only 20.0 ?

Environment

Release : 20.0

DB2 for Z/OS

Cause

There is a level set mismatch with an xmanager attached to a data collector task.

Resolution

SYSVIEW for DB2 obtains the level set value at the point where it connects to an existing Data Collector(DC) started task , either by going into a menu item or selecting a subsystem.

The Data Collector(DC) in turn is attached to an xmanager which is where the level set value is obtained.

It was found that the systems aligned with Xmanager and since level set is not active the SYSVIEW was not showing the right version and now when the of Xmanager was refreshed where it it used globally then it obtained the right values.

After the xmanager was refreshed using the correct level set CDBALOAD, SYSVIEW for DB2 now showed the right version of 20.0.06.

PS> The DBG55092E  was a user error. The SSID that was selected simply wasn't operational yet.

Additional Information

The levelset value comes from the Xmanager to which the DC is connected. So, for example, if there is DC connected to XMAN1 at 20.0.05 and a DC connected to XMAN2 at 20.0.06 then the Insight UI display will toggle between those version numbers depending on which DC you have PICKed.

Furthermore, if you have a DC connected to an Xmanager that doesn't have the level-set feature yet, we will still display 20.0.
