SUMMARY: The new option on Risk Settings: Round the Calculations of Impact and Probability was introduced to more precisely calculate and present risk ratings especially when more that the 3 tier heat map is used. When a risk is closed it should not be counted in the Risk Ratings
Per this kb:
Risk Scores Calculation / determining the color of the Risk Score
Specifically:
Note: The 'status' of a detailed Risk is considered in the overall Risk Score Average Weighted Formula, therefore, the calculation will NOT add in the detailed Risks with a status of 'Closed' or 'Resolved'.
The closed or resolved risks should not be a part of the Risk Rating calculation.
Reference
When Risk for a risk category is closed the associated Risk Factor is set to Unselected causing the Risk Rating to not calculate correctly as well.
However, when the box is checked, the closed/resolved values are showing the highest level from the Risk Settings map instead of removing the value at all.
Note that when all risks are closed, the Status box is editable, but it populates with the value in the Right/bottom section of the heat map.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a risk and select a category.
- My example used the funding category
- Make the score be something other than Low
- You can include the image on the Risk Rating for Funding category better visuals
2. Check the Risk Rating page
- The Funding category is locked and shows the values per the risk page.
3. Go back and set the Risk to Closed
Expected Results: Risk Ratings page the Funding Category is open and there is no Image Value
Actual Results: Risk Ratings page the Funding Category is Editable but shows High or whatever the last cell in the Risk Settings has and image reflects the same as well.
Workaround: Uncheck the Round the Calculations of Impact and Probability checkbox
