Issue/Introduction

My Nimsoft e2e scripts are failing because of this Microsoft Edge pop-up.

  • I was able to get around the old pop-up using an option to never allow sites to open in Edge.
  • This one our desktop team looked at on Friday and cannot have this removed.  I have currently 16 vms that scripts are breaking on.
  • Our desktop team IE has been end of life for almost a year now and will be removed completely in an upcoming Windows update.
  • IE 11 is unusable and I have no edge extension.

Environment

  • Release: 20.4
  • e2e_appmon: v2.51
  • Nimrecorder version: 6.0
  • No edge extensions on the vms

Cause

  • Microsoft forcing migration from IE11 to Edge.

Resolution

Microsoft Edge popup: "The future of Internet Explorer is in Microsoft Edge."

  • Microsoft and other sites have posted some workarounds, e.g.,

  • 'Set the RedirectSitesFromInternetExplorerRedirectMode policy to Enabled AND then in the dropdown under Options:

  • Redirect incompatible sites from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge, select Disable.

  • This setting will stop redirecting as soon as the policy takes effect.

  • This is not a DX UIM product or e2e_appmon/WinTask issue.

  • This orother popups may occur from major browser updates or the first time a new browser is installed. In some cases, this may have to be handled manually by clicking through the prompts/pages but only the first time they show up.
