Portal access denied for non-administrator portal users

Issue/Introduction

Portal users other than the primary administrator account are unable to login to the Information Centric Analytics (ICA) portal. When attempting to open the site, the following error is displayed:

401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

Release : 6.x

Cause

The built-in account IUSR has not been granted read access to the Risk Fabric Server Web folder, causing the authentication failure while attempting to access the site.

Resolution

 Grant the built-in account IUSR read access to the Risk Fabric Server Web folder by following this procedure:

1. On the server hosting Internet Information Services (IIS) and the ICA application, navigate in Windows Explorer to the following path on the drive on which ICA has been installed:

   \Program Files\Bay Dynamics\

2. Right-click the folder Risk Fabric Server Web and select Properties
   The Risk Fabric Server Web Properties window will open
3. In the Risk Fabric Server Web Properties window, select the Security tab
4. Click the Edit button
   The Permissions for Risk Fabric Server Web window will open
5. Click the Add button and follow the prompts to add the account IUSR
6. Highlight the IUSR entry and check the Allow box for Read permissions
7. Click the OK button to close the Permissions for Risk Fabric Server Web window
8. Click the OK button to close the Risk Fabric Server Web Properties window
