4803 OCR request was not successful - Error while loading page: API FILEFORMAT ERR - C:\ProgramData\OmniPage\License Manager\OPLicOEM.lic

Issue/Introduction

After installing new OCR server for DLP 16 we can see multiple events from OCR servers (System > Servers and Detectors > Events):

Detail	Error while loading page: File error: [8004c418]: API_FILEFORMAT_ERR - C:\ProgramData\OmniPage\License Manager\OPLicOEM.lic (0)

 

Behavior:
- Detection will randomly succeed or fail. No apparent pattern to when it succeeds or fails.
- Same file on the same server may succeed on one pass, and fail on the next. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why it fails on one attempt and succeeds on the next.

Environment

Confirmed in Release: 16.0 - 16.1

Cause

OPLicOEM.lic file in C:\ProgramData\OmniPage\License Manager\ is an integral part of OCR server installed.

Once any of software (eg. Antivirus) interfering this folder we can see such events from every OCR server.

Resolution

We need to except the following OCR folders from antivirus monitoring:

\ProgramData\OmniPage\
\ProgramData\Symantec\
\Program Files\Symantec\
