MCS Group Profiles on Group of Type Container

Issue/Introduction

Our customer wants to create groups with subgroups in OC. He has created a main group of type Container with groups in it that have subgroups. Now he wants to build a MCS Profile on the Container Group so it is getting deployed to all devices in the groups and subgroups that have the specific probe deployed. MCS is grayed-out on the container group. Is this working as designed? Are there any plans to support groups with subgroups in MCS for group profiles?

Environment

• Release: 20.4 CU 6

Resolution

• OC Containers and Groups are currently 'working as designed.'
• When you apply a profile at the GROUP level, MCS applies this profile to all of the devices within the group. 
• Device-level configuration overrides the group-level configuration.
• There is currently no Container-level configuration - Containers are like labels/static 'holding areas' in the OC tree hierarchy.

 

Additional Information

You could create an Idea (enhancement request) but also contact your customer's Account Rep/team as to its importance to the customer if more critical/urgent.
