CA Privileged Access Manager (PAM)

Issue/Introduction

We found that it is mentioned pam will support JBoss application server version 4.2.2 as mentioned in the below link.

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/identity-security/privileged-access-manager/4-1/programming/integrate-applications-with-the-credential-manager-a2a-client/integrate-java-applications-with-the-credential-manager-a2a-client/integrate-a-java-application-with-the-a2a-client-on-jboss.html

And also, we observer Pam supports java Version 7, which is quite old version. Can you please clarify us whether PAM will support the latest java versions??

In Our environment we are using: LTD2 is currently running on Java 1.8.0_181 (the last "free" version from Oracle), and JBoss 10.1.0 WildFly.

Environment

Release : 4.1.x

Cause

Clarification on wheater the above versions will support the PAM.

Resolution

PAM JDBC driver used for integration with application servers is a proxy JDBC driver. It does not implement connectivity to the database but always works in conjunction with a real JDBC driver (which could of type 4, 5 etc) and proxies requests to it. We do support Java 1.8. We do not publish specific versions of the application servers that can use JDBC drivers as those change very often. The example provided in the documentation is for a quite old version of JBoss 4.2 but this is just an example. Configuration steps for other application servers or versions might be different.

If the customer is looking for explicit certification of a particular version of the app server that they use this certification request will need to go to our Product Management team for evaluation.
