Issue/Introduction

Spectrum JNLP Does not launch with "No suitable JVM was found to start the application"

Environment

Release :  Spectrum 22.2.7 to Spectrum 23.3.7
Release:   Spectrum 23.3.8+

Cause

  • OpenWebStart needs to be mapped to the Java 11 Runtime Environment (JRE11):

Note: Spectrum 22.2.7 through 23.3.7 uses JRE11
Note: Starting in Spectrum 23.3.8 and higher Spectrum now uses JRE17 and will require JRE17 on the client's desktop to use the thick Console

Resolution

  • Launch itw-settings for OpenWebStart under Program Files\OpenWebStart:

  • Add JRE11 instance by selecting "Find local" or "Add local" and manually browse to it:

Note: Spectrum 23.3.7+ now uses JRE17. If you are on 23.3.8 or later please make sure JRE17 is installed on the client desktop and that it is added in the OpenWebStart Settings
under JVM Manager. It may also be recommended to deactivate older versions in the JVM Manager screen using the ... menu to the right of the older JRE entries.
