Issue/Introduction

Control Compliance Suite (CCS)

The 'Management Task Status' column in the Asset System -> Agents section of the CCS console shows 'Agent ping successful', but the agent is unreachable during data collection and is marked red and is descoped from data collection job.

Environment

Release: CCS 12.5.2 and CCS 12.6.X

Resolution

NOTE: The agent can be descoped in 2 ways: 1) by either running the Agent Management Job (AMJ job) and having that find the agent unreachable or 2) if a data collection job is run and the agent is not reachable/available at that time of the data collection.  

If an AMJ job is run and that job finds that an agent is unreachable at that time, the Management Task Status column will be changed to display 'Failed to ping the agent'.  

If the 'Management Task Status' column shows 'Agent ping successful' then that indicates that the AMJ job was successful the last time the AMJ job ran, and that 'Management Task Status' column does not change nor does it get updated if the agent was unreachable during the data collection job and is marked red.  

It will not matter how it was determined that the agent was unreachable and marked red, either by the AMJ job or a data collection job, to get the agent to be displayed green an AMJ job needs to be successfully run on that agent to mark it green for that asset to be included in the next data collection
