We have physical backups of some VSE packs and we want to restore this data to different packs.
We have a user ID called PRODDVSE with minidisks as follows:
* VSE System VOLUMES
MDISK A00 3390 1 3338 PRD311 MR MDISK 901 3390 1 3338 PRD312 MR MDISK A01 3390 1 3338 PRD313 MR
We have a user ID called DRPVSE with minidisks as follows:
* DRP VSE System VOLUMES
MDISK A00 3390 1 3338 DRD311 MR MDISK 901 3390 1 3338 DRD312 MR MDISK A01 3390 1 3338 DRD313 MR
Notice that these VSE disk definitions do not include cylinder 0. Both PRD311 and DRD311 volumes are online and attached to VM.
We backup the user ID PRODDVSE and now would like to restore to user ID DRPVSE using the same minidisk addresses.
How can I accomplish this with VM:Backup?
VM:Backup 3.6
If there's a need to restore the DASD volume, you can restore the volume to the original volume or to an alternate DASD volume.
If you want to restore to a different target userid/vaddr, then MDSKLIST can help you accomplish this. See the MDSKLIST command and the MDSKLIST option of the SUBMIT command in VM:Backup's System Programmers Reference found at:
