DATABASE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS FOR DB2 FOR Z/OS

Issue/Introduction

Using SYSVIEW MVS monitor to access DB2 metrics (via PTXNET and IDB2) failure occurs: DB20043E+Passticket generation failed.

Environment

Release : 20.0 DB2 v12, TSS 16

Cause

In this case, the application of TSS (Top Secret) PTF LU08678 to support encrypted and enhanced passtickets seems to have changed the passticket behavior when an APPL (in this case DBMAPPL) is defined to the NDT with a SESSKEY(0).  The error message:  'DB20043E+Passticket generation failed.' occurs. This passticket generation problem also impacts other applications communicating with the XNET (MTC-DBM, DevOps).

Resolution

PTF LU09464 is available to address this problem condition.  In the interim, remove the NDT entry for DBMAPPL (that specified SESSKEY(0))
TSS REMOVE(NDT) PSTKAPPL(DBMAPPL)
Re-add DBMAPPL back to the NDT using (1)
TSS ADDTO(NDT) PSTKAPPL(DBMAPPL) SESSKEY(1) SIGNMULTI
