Issue/Introduction

When attempting to install the Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), a browse dialog comes up for a missing vc_runtimeMinimum package with the message, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

If you hit cancel, the SEPM installer will fail with the following error:

Environment

Release : 14.3

Cause

This error can occur if a previously installed version of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable was uninstalled improperly.

Resolution

There are two options to fix this.

1.  Find the exact version of the missing vc_runtimeMinimumx86.msi package and reinstall it.  (The version number will be listed in the path.)

2.  Remove references to this uninstalled old version from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products.  Once all references are removed (there may be more than one), run the SEPM installer again. For more information, see the following Microsoft article.
