Issue/Introduction

Can you issue TSS MODIFY commands when the TSS address space is temporarily shutdown?

Environment

Release : 16.0

Resolution

The TSS MODIFY command cannot be processed if the Top Secret address space is down:

The following message on the console will be received:

IEE341I TSS               NOT ACTIVE   

when issuing a TSS MODIFY command on the console.

From a blank TSO screen or batch job, you will receive a:

                                 
tss modify status                         
 TSS0201I CA TOP SECRET IS NOT ACTIVE     
  

Ths TSS address space must be up so the TSS MODIFY command can be processed.

It doesnt matter where the TSS MODIFY command came from. Example: SDSF, TSO option 6, blank TSO screen, batch job or the console.
