Logoff CICS users in Top Secret department ACID after no activity

Issue/Introduction

There is a business requirement that all users within a certain Top Secret department ACID be logged off the production CICS system if there is no activity for a certain period of time. The OPTIME parameter is set up for a user in the test environment and it forces a logoff of the user after the specified time. When adding OPTIME to a department ACID, it does not work. The users in the department are not logged off after the specified time.

Can OPTIME be used at the department level or is there another way of doing this?

Resolution

You cannot add OPTIME to a DEPT ACID to make it work for users of that DEPT. There is no direct relationship between the DEPT acid and the users who are part of that DEPT. You will need to use a common profile for users of that DEPT, to have everyone in the DEPT time out after the same time period.

You could add the OPTIME value to the DFLTUSER acid for the CICS region if you want the same timeout value for everyone that has access to this region.
