Issue/Introduction

In Datacom Datadictionary, it's possible to define alternative names (i.e. ALIAS) for entities. These ALIAS names must be unique.

Must an ALIAS be unique across all databases in the entire MUF? Or must it be unique within a single Database?

Environment

Release : 15.1

Component: DD

Resolution

As it can be read on the "Adding and Deleting Aliases" section of the Datacom 15.1 documentation:  "Each alias must be unique within the entity-type."
So you cannot use the same ALIAS for two different areas (or for two different tables), even if they are related to different databases. The same ALIAS name can be used for an area and a table instead.
