Issue/Introduction

This article covers below questions with respect to logo update in CA Mobile Authenticator:

  • If you are using the Mobile OTP app or Push app from the app store or play store and wanted to change the Logo URLs for all the accounts.
  • If it is possible to force the update of the CA Mobile Authenticator Logo also for those who have already completed the enrollment of the same APP with the old Logo setting.

Environment

Release : CA Strong Authentication 9.1

Resolution

You can rebrand the Advanced Authentication Push and OTP client by following below URL:

It is possible that the mobile app is caching the image from the old URL and is not refreshing it when the URL is updated. This is a common issue with caching in mobile apps. To avoid this behavior, you can try the following steps:

  • Clear the cache of the mobile app: This will force the app to download the new image from the updated URL.
  • Use a new URL for the updated image: Instead of replacing the existing image, use a new URL for the updated image. This will ensure that the app downloads the new image from the new URL.
  • Use versioning in the URL: Add a version number to the URL of the image. This will force the app to download the new image from the updated URL, even if it has cached the old image.
  • Use a different file name for the updated image: Instead of replacing the existing image, use a different file name for the updated image. This will ensure that the app downloads the new image from the new file name.
  • Reduce the caching time of the image: You can reduce the caching time of the image by setting the Cache-Control header to a shorter time period. This will force the app to download the new image from the updated URL after the cache expires.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to force the update of the CA Mobile Authenticator logo for users who have already completed the enrollment of the app with the old logo setting. This is because the app caches the logo image to improve performance and reduce data usage.

However, you can inform your users about the updated logo and encourage them to re-register with the app. This will ensure that they receive the new logo during the registration process. You can also provide instructions to clear the cache of the app to help users refresh the logo image.
