Issue/Introduction

When a summary task contains a milestone task and the project is saved from Microsoft Project back to Clarity, the summary task is changed to a milestone task as well.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a new project with two tasks (a regular task, a milestone task).
  2. Open the Gantt View or Timeline View to make the second task a child task (we now have one summary task, one child milestone task).
  3. Open the project in Microsoft Project. Both tasks will be shown as milestones.
  4. Save the project back to Clarity. The project will be successfully saved.

Expected Results: The summary task is not a milestone.

Actual Results: Back in Clarity, the summary task is now also a milestone.

While trying to remove the milestone flag in Clarity:

  • Classic UX: "Milestone" checkbox is not shown in the Task Edit view. It is read-only in the Task List view.
  • Modern UX: When unchecking the "Milestone" checkbox, an error is shown: PRJ-07238: Unexpected start or finish date entry for summary or subproject task.

Workaround:

In the gannt outdent all child tasks, then you should be able to remove the milestone on the summary task.  Once done, indent the child tasks again
