Issue/Introduction

I am experiencing issues getting MIBs to load into the snmptd probe.

Environment

  • Release: 20.3 or higher
  • snmptd v3.30, 3.40 or higher

Resolution

1. Upgrade to snmptd v3.40

2. Select and launch the 'MIB Setup Wizard' and then Press the green + button to load the MIBS

3. Navigate to the MIBs folder (if it was a .zip, make sure you've extracted it first).

4. Sort by file type MIB, but make sure you don't select any of the .bin files that were in the folder.

5. Select about 10 Trap MIBs at a time

6. Click Save

7. Click Next

8. Select Reload new MIBS on 'Finish'

9. Click Finish

10. To verify, Launch the MIB Setup Wizard again,

11. Click Next

12. Scroll to view the loaded Trap MIBs (as well as their dependent MIBs from the IMPORTS section of the main trap MIBs)

Additional Information

If the steps above did not resolve problem with MIBs not loading, follow the steps below:

  1. Manually copy and paste the complete MIB files present, in this case, the SONUS-MIBS folder, into the path below (all .mib files need to be copied), e.g., ...\Program Files (x86)\Nimsoft\MIBS\
  2. Save a backup copy of the MIBS folder for safekeeping.
  3. In the IM, Rt-click and deactivate the snmptd probe.
  4. Rt-click and delete the snmptd probe.
  5. On the file system, delete the snmptd directory.
  6. Redeploy snmptd v3.40 from the local archive on the Primary hub.
  7. Verify that the OIDs are visible in the snmptd MIB Trap Browser.

snmptd probe (traps only)
For SONUS, HORNET, and CONNEXIP trap monitoring, TRAP-MIBs can be loaded into snmptd.

  • SONUS-SBX-POLICY-SERVER-TRAP-MIB
  • SONUS-SBX-TRAP-MIB
  • HORNET-BASE-TRAPS-MIB

snmpget probe (GETs)

For SONUS systems monitoring using the SONUS-SYSTEM-MIB, you can use snmpget (for less than 200 OIDs), or use the snmpcollector probe.
Note SONUS-SYSTEM-MIB requires this dependent MIB -> SONUS-SMI
