PAM VNC not starting on devices

Issue/Introduction

Several devices (PSCAN) configured for VNC access are reporting the error "Unsupported Security Type - BAD SSO password." Our team believes this is likely an error for all PSCAN devices.

While we're not 100% sure, this may be related to our recent upgrade to 4.1.1.

 

 

 

Environment

Release : 4.0

Cause

At some point in the previous version the PAM server would allow the attempted VNC connection if password authentication was disabled in VNC but in 4.1.1 if you enter a password for VNC and the VNC service does not allow for authenticated connections, It will report the error

Resolution

Client needed to readd the authentication method to the Linux VNC service and was then able to utilize the password through PAM.
