Issue/Introduction

Client is receiving the following error while trying to create a new Deliver Database.

RMODBI01  Allocation failed for SYS2.RMOTST1 - ERROR=9700 INFO=0000 DS=001

Environment

Release : 14.0

Resolution

In the RMODBI01 message:

  Allocation failed for SYS2.RMOTST1 - ERROR=9700 INFO=0000 DS=001

ERROR=9700 is a generic dynamic allocation error, and possible reasons could be one of the below...

* The DASD on this system is controlled by SMS. Customer may have to mention DATACLAS/MGMTCLAS/STORCLAS while allocating the files to avoid any possible conflicts.

* Customer trying to allocate the DB on an SMS volume without sufficient security permissions.

* Customer trying to allocate the DB on an SMS volume and the dataset name was not allowed to be created on that volume.

Suggested the customer to check the SMS parameters that were given while creating the existing database and compare that parameters with that of the new database.
