Customer received the following error while running SARPAC Job,

SARTPI42 Tape Allocation failed ERR=029C

The SARPAC job successfully processes numerous tapes before getting this error on a tape. Customer able to view reports from this same tape through the ISPF interface.

Interpreting error reason codes from DYNALLOC

029C Meaning: There was a library automation communication services (LACS) mount failure for a device in a IBM 3495 Tape Library Dataserver.

System programmer or operator action: Depending on the messages accompanying this error reason code, different actions are needed.

Resolution

In this case, SARTPI42 ERR=029 seems to be occurred due to some faulty device.

Customer ran the SARPAC job again. All of the tapeseq numbers that failed have now worked. It sounds like some sort of Hardware problem that has remedied itself.
