Symantec Protection Engine will not install due to error - no digest

Issue/Introduction

While attempting to install Protection Engine for NAS/Cloud on Linux the following error is thrown:

package SYMCScan-8.2.2.7-1.x86_64 does not verify: no digest

ERROR: This copy of SYMCScan software did not install correctly. Review the error or warning messages that were issued, take the corrective action suggested, then try again.

 

 

There are really no other warning messages or suggested actions provided in the install log.

Environment

Release : 8.2.2.7

Cause

The Linux server had FIPS security enabled which requires a stricter package signature than normal OS security methods require.

Resolution

A FIPS option will eventually be available but currently the only option is to disable FIPS prior to installing SPE.
