Issue/Introduction

The new CCOLS feature introduced by fixes LU09037 and LU09038 allows users to customize the sequence of columns displayed in Quickedit element selection list panels.

This feature is enabled by option CD19002_QE_CCOLS in the optional features table ENCOPTBL.

The default sequence used when the feature is enabled and user has not yet changed it mimics the standard column sequence used when the feature is not enabled.

Would it be possible to alter/change that default without each user having to edit the definitions?

Environment

Release : 19.0

Resolution

It would be possible to alter/change the default sequence either globally or even in a user by user basis.

The customized values for each user are stored in the ISPF profile dataset (normally userid.ISP.ISPPROF) in member xxxxCSDQ, where xxxx is the NEWAPPL parameter user in the ISPF SELECT command that started the Quick Edit  dialog (normally CTLI). When user enter the CCOLS command,  an EDIT session is run to update this member.

Therefore, copying a pre-customized CTLICSDQ member in the ISPPROF library for a specific user sets the column sequence for this user.

If the CTLICSDQ member is not found, CCOLS command creates it from the system-wide default sequence stored in member ENMCCSDQ in the ISPSLIB library chain used when running the Quick Edit dialog. Therefore, changing this member sets system-wide defaults for any user that does NOT have a CTLICSDQ member in the ISPPROF library

*** WARNING ***

If the sequence definition member in use (either the global one or the customized copy stored in ISPPROF) is corrupted or has errors, the element selection list panel will fail. Therefore, EXTREME CAUTION needs to be exercised when delivering adjusted members, especially the system-wide one.

To fix a corrupted CTLICSDQ from the ISPPROF library for a specific user, delete the member so that Endevor uses the site-wide default. There is no way to fix a corrupted system-wide default member other than restoring it from a backup or manually correcting it.
