Endpoint Agent Installation Error, "MainEngineThread is returning 2"

Issue/Introduction

Error Received when attempting to install the DLP Endpoint Agent

InstallAgent.log shows the following error: 

MSI (c) (2C:E4) [08:23:26:940]: Note: 1: 2203 2: AgentInstall-x64_15_8.msi 3: -2147287038 
MSI (c) (2C:E4) [08:23:26:940]: MainEngineThread is returning 2

The error window shows the following:

 

 

Environment

Release : 15.8

Cause

The logged in user does not have enough privileges to run the installation package.

Resolution

 Open a command prompt as 'Run As Administrator'  first, CD to where the install_agent.bat file is located, then run the installagent.bat file.
