Issue/Introduction

The Mac installation file for CA PAM only works with Intel based processors, not ARM (Apple M1 or M2). This means that CA PAM cannot be installed on any MacBook’s made after 2020. The problem is the java contained in the .app file, it is meant for Intel architecture not ARM.

Environment

Release : 4.0, 4.1

Cause

Adoptium (aka Eclipse Temurin) JDK for Java 8 that we use is not available for macOS aarch64... but the good news is that 1) customers should be able to run x64 SDK on their Macs with Apple Silicon using Rosetta 2 and 2) we are upgrading Java 8 to Java 17 in PAM Client and Java 17 is available on aarch64.

Resolution

This issue has been fixed and the fix will be part of PAM 4.2.

ETA May 2023.
