View - Use of WORM Tapes for a View Backup

Issue/Introduction

Our TAPE storage team is planning to change the default for new tape allocations to be Write-Once Read-Many (WORM) tapes.

Can View backup tapes handle WORM tapes?

Resolution

If the WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) tapes can be appended to, then View will be able to use them. 

It is suggested that you not use a VOLSER range of tapes, because once you wrap, you would not be able to write on the tape.
