In-Place Upgrade of OS on GSS 3.3 RU1 Server gives and error

Issue/Introduction

Existing GSS Environment:

• Have version 3.3 RU1
• Have it running on 2012 r2 server

Need to upgrade the OS to Windows 2019 and do in place upgrade of GSS to RU10

• Tried to perform OS upgrade but received errors:
  • "OS not supported and needed to uninstall"
  •  Ghost Standard tools- Went into the control panel and checked:
    
    • has a few versions in there from 2019 and had 3 instances installed on top
    • eleted old one and refreshed install and now only has 1 problem now
  • "Altiris deployment datastore and needs to be removed" in order to install 2019
  • Now only has 1 instance on programs and features

Needs guidance on next steps to perform successful in-place upgrade and migration to new 2019 server

Resolution

Please follow these steps:

1) uninstall GSS using this document: KB: 163038

NOTE: Do not proceed with steps 4 - 6 of the document

2) install the OS upgrade

3) After upgrade of OS proceed with this document to install GSS: KB: 239499

4) Reboot
