Patch Management Solution updates included for Windows Defender

Issue/Introduction

Virus Updates are sent out for Windows Defender on a frequent basis.  Are these included in the Patch Data Import for Windows (legacy known as PMImport)?

PM 8.x

Resolution

Patch Management only includes Updates for the Platform and the Engine.  PMImport does not include the daily or weekly virus or security definitions in the Import Patch Data for Windows (PMImport) releases.

For example, PMImport includes the following information found in the KB article Windows PMImport 7.4.1818 (July 24, 2025) for WINDEFPLT-250723:
