Issue/Introduction

The following procedure is aimed at the network administrator who, for whatever reason, needs to change IP addresses of the MDB and/or ServiceDesk server(s).

Environment

Service Desk Manager 17.x

All Supported Operating Systems

Resolution

To change IP address(es), follow these steps:

1. Shut down the Service Desk service

2. Change the IP address of the database server (taking whatever steps that are appropriate for your particular database, e.g. SQL Server, Oracle).

3. Change the IP address of the Service Desk server at the OS level.

4. Run Service Desk configuration, taking care not to reinitialize the database. Service Desk uses by default the hostname of the machine therefore the change of the IP Address should not affect it.

5. Restart the Service Desk service.
