After OS patching the DA will no longer start

Issue/Introduction

The DA was working before bringing it down for patching. The SA that did the OS patching did not take a snapshot of the VM. When it came back up, the DA won't initialize. The status shows that it is running but PC showed that it is failed.

DX NetOps Performance Management Data Aggregator host was patched by system administrators (SA). After the Data Aggregator fails to start properly and fails to synchronize with Portal.

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The kernel updated on the server was different than others in the environment.

Resolution

The SA rolled back the patching and repeated the process, ensuring the correct kernel was used. Once done the DA restarts and synchronizes with Portal normally.
