The mass import of objects with the REST API results in very high WP/DWP usage

Issue/Introduction

We have tested the REST API with the option "folderobjects" for the export and import of more than 3000 objects.

The export runs without any problems, however, the import results in high WP usage (over 50%)

At the time of the test no users were logged in and no batches were executed.

All DWPs and WP processes are busy. We ran a second import in parallel and the usage went to 100% 

Environment

Release : 21.0.4

Cause

This is a problem with how the WPs handle their cache updates during large imports.

Resolution

When more than 25 objects are imported the update of the cache is postponed until the import is ready.

 

Solution:

Update to a fix version listed below or a newer version if available.
