Interactive installation of CU4 or CU5 Manager Patch fails with error : can not install files older than those on the target system

Issue/Introduction

Interactive installation of CU4 or CU5 patch Manager with applyptf fails with error :

can not install files older than those on the target system

In applyptf log following message appears :

ReplaceOK(): D:\99111569_ITCM_R14.5_CU5_MANAGER\WINDOWS11X64.OSI
Size:276 Time:Wed Sep 29 06:26:44 2021
This is the new file PTF Wizard would apply.

C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\osimips\os-template\camenu\WINDOWS11x64.osi
Size:276 Time:Tue Oct 26 14:43:32 2021
This is the original file on the target system.

PTF Wizard can not install files older than those on the target system.
PTF Wizard recommends you skip application of this PTF, and that
you call your local CA support representative.

Environment

Client Automation 14.5

Cause

This problem occurs if CU1, CU2 or CU3 Manager patch has been installed previously.

 

CU1, CU2 and CU3 deliver these files with following timestamps :

 

WINDOWS11x64.osi   26/10/2021 14:43

WINDOWS11x64.wp1 26/10/2021 14:43

WINDOWS11x64.wp1 26/10/2021 14:43

 

 

 

CU4 and CU5 delivers these files with following timestamps :

 

 

WINDOWS11x64.osi   29/09/2021 06:26

WINDOWS11x64.wp1 29/09/2021 06:26

WINDOWS11x64.wp1 29/09/2021 06:26

 

 

The timestamps are older but the content of these files are the same.

Resolution

There are 2 solutions :

 

1- Install the manager patch using applyptf command line :

 

Example for CU5 patch (99111569) :

APPLYPTF.exe  /NODE=<machine name> /PTF=99111569.jcl /INSTALLNEW /SILENT /OUTPUTFILE=<log file name>

 

 

Or if installation should be made with interactive applyptf :

 

 

2- Download the attached zip files which contain the 3 Windows11x64* files with correct timestamps and copy them into the CU5 patch manager source.

Then Applyptf interactive wizard mode should work.
