Issue/Introduction

When you execute a custom workflow in Identity Manager, you may observe that the system sends multiple reminder emails at every approval level immediately after the request is submitted. This often manifests as an email sent every two minutes, occurring six times.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5 & 15

Cause

This behavior occurs because the "PSE Provisioning Reminder" alert is configured to execute every two minutes. This alert invokes the IMApproversProvisioning action, which triggers the Identity Manager imApprovers work point process. If email notification is configured within the workflow, the system sends an email every time the alert executes the action.

Resolution

To stop the recurring reminder emails, you must disable the alert triggering the action:

  1. Log in to the Identity Manager administration console.
  2. Navigate to the workflow configuration settings.
  3. Locate the "PSE Provisioning Reminder" alert.
  4. Disable or remove the alert configuration to prevent it from executing every two minutes.
