Issue/Introduction

When importing predefined computers with a CSV the computers are not adding to the defined OU group

Environment

Release : 3.3

Cause

In this case the customer did not enter the data into the correct column 'Computer Group'

Resolution

To use the sample txt file:

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, on the Settings menu, click Deployment > Predefined Computers.
  2. In the Predefined Computer dialog box, click Import Computers.
  3. In the Open File dialog box, navigate to the.txt or the .csv file that contains the information about the computers to import.
  4. You can copy a sample Pre-DefinedComputers.csv file from the \Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win32\X86\Deployment\Sample\ImportComputers55.txt
  5. Import the txt file into excel program. the column headers should remain intact 

If wanting to add computer to a group with in the console for example: LAB20. Add LAB20 to the 'Computer Group' Column

If the OU group is nested for example there is a OU group:  ENGINEERING  with a nested OU group: LAB20

Add to column 'Groups' ENGINEERING and add to column 'Computer Group'  LAB20

Go to file save as  and save the file as a csv format

Finally to import the csv file into the console go to: File > Import/Export > Import Computers... and locate the csv file
