Group and Dashboard item members not matching

Issue/Introduction

I'm trying to get a group that shows just specific interfaces (WAN interfaces) for specific regions.  From this group I'd also like to see Device Health, Latency to each site and bandwidth on specific interfaces (based on the criteria in the group).

The Group appears to show the items as intended, it shows one interface as intended. However, when I go Menu -> Interfaces and select this group. I see all interfaces on the device(s). I also see all interfaces when I use menu - Network Performance.  How can I get these groups to populate only the interfaces I'm specifying and what shows in the 'results'?

DX NetOps Performance Management Portal web server Groups show the correct members. Using the Group in a Dashboard or View shows more items than the Group shows as members.

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The Group was mistakenly configured to provide this result.

This is proven by changing the Items configuration on the Group between Direct and Inherited Items.

Resolution

The Group was set up in the following way:

• The Properties option for "Include the children of managed items" was checked off to enable it.
• The specific target Interface was manually, or Directly, added to the Groups membership.

To resolve this disable the  "Include the children of managed items" option.
