Unable to migrate devices from one Data Collector to another

Issue/Introduction

We have an oversubscribed Data Collector and wish to migrate some devices to a different DC.  I see a "move devices" button under admin > monitored items > Data Collectors, but it is greyed out

We aren't running any fault tolerant DAs or DCs in this environment

How to move devices from one Data Collector to another one?

The Move Devices button on the Data Collector Status page is grayed out when selecting devices to be moved.

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The Data Collectors are each tied to different IP Domains. Devices can not be moved between different IP Domains.

Resolution

Devices can only be moved between Data Collectors (DCs) that are tied to the same IP Domain.

To resolve this the limited options available are:

• Delete the device from the existing DC and IP Domain. Discover it as a new device in the target DC and IP Domain.
• Add a new DC to the target IP Domain to allow movement of the device between DCs in the same IP Domain.
