Issue/Introduction

There are GSO records stored under a specific SYSID(SYSA) and a masked SYSID(****). When a LPAR is ipl'd with SYSID SYSA which GSO records will be used? Just the SYSID(SYSA) GSO records? Or both the SYSID(SYSA) and SYSID(****)?

Resolution

When a site have GSO records stored under a specific such as SYSID(SYSA) and SYSID(****) and an lpar is IPL'd with SYSID SYSA ACF2 will use the GSO records from the specific SYSID SYSA before the records stored under the masked SYSID ****. Depending on the type of GSO record, a single type such as OPTS, INFODIR, BACKUP etc. versus a GSO record where there can be multiple records such as SAFDEF, CLASMAP APPLDEF etc., the processing of the GSO records differ.

For a single type such as OPTS, INFODIR, BACKUP only the specific GSO record(in this case SYSA) will be used. There is no merging of the two GSO record from the masked SYSID ****.

For multiple records such as SAFDEF, CLASMAP APPLDEF both the records from the specific SYSID and masked SYSID will be used.

To answer the question, if a GSO INFODIR is created under SYSID(SYSA), only that INFODIR record will be used, the INFODIR  stored under SYSID(****) will not be used(merged). So a site would need to INSERT a GSO INFODIR under SYSID(SYSA) with the new TYPES and include all of the TYPES that are defined under the SYSID(****).
