XPSSweeper core dumps/Crashes after upgrading to r12.8.6/r12.8.6a

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading the Siteminder Policy Server to r12.8.6/r12.8.6a XPSSweeper crashes/core dumps.  

 

Environment

Release : 12.8.06/r12.8.6a

Cause

There are some additional XPS Data Dictionary objects added in 12.8.6/r12.8.6a.  XPSSweeper on r12.8.6/r12.8.6a encounters an unhandled exception when run against an r12.8.5 and older Policy Store where with the older version of the XPS Data Dictionary.  The unhandled exception causes the XPSSweeper process to core/crash when it can't find the expected XPS Data Dictionary objects.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in Siteminder r12.8.7.

To fix this in r12.8.6/r12.8.6a you will need to import the r12.8.6/r12.8.6a XPS Data Dictionary objects.

 

1) Logon to the r12.8.6/r12.8.6a Policy Server

2) Stop the Policy Server

3) Change to the following directory

cd <PS_Install_Dir>/siteminder/xps/dd

3) Import the r12.8.6/r12.8.6a XPS Data Dictionary

XPSDDInstall SmMaster.xdd

4) Start the Policy Server

5) Run XPSSweeper
