Issue/Introduction

Trying the installer and silent install on upgrading an existing Oracle instance, the create_table script was run instead.
The only workaround was doing a fresh schema install on a new instance
You never see the option to select upgrade step

Also, the silent installed worked with the -useExistingSchemaForOracle=true – property but it didn’t do anything at all to the database, nothing what so ever and nor did id wipe the original db schema. No schema logs created doing this

Environment

Release : 10.7.0

Resolution

There are no changes to the APM DB (Oracle DB) schema between APM 10.7 and APM 10.8, there is no need to do a database update during upgrade, Instead do a custom install with EM.

Instead, set the ts_db_versions in ts_domains to 10.8.0 in the existing APM DB (Oracle DB).

Additional Information

The above solution can also be valid for APM DB (postgres DB) as the APM DB tables are the same for APM 10.7 and APM 10.8.
