Vantage Filter Error - "Message cannot be sent. Message too long." when using Windows client or "Out of Memory" when using Web Client

Issue/Introduction

Vantage Filter definition error "Message cannot be sent. Message too long." when Filter Definition is more than 1900 characters in the windows client or "Out of memory"  when filter is more than 1895 characters in the web client.

Following is the screen shot from the customer from Windows client.

 

Following is the error from Web Client using Chrome browser. The error is Out of Memory.

Environment

Release : 14.1 - patch5

Windows client and Web Client

Cause

The above error is displayed when Filter Definition is more than 1900 characters in the windows client or 1895 characters in the Web Client.

Resolution

For an external filter, the limits is 1895 characters with Web Client and 1900 characters is with the Web Client. As a work around, create an "external filter/class" then save it, and then use "insert class" to load the filter.
